Most categories include qualifying rounds in which the members must perform for the judges. The judges give their approval, which is a ‘ten’ in the ballroom scene. If the judges disapprove of the performance, they give the member a ‘chop.’ To enhance the competition, no member has to receive a chop to qualify for the next round.

Each member is supposed to face off individually in the following round until only one remains. Then, this member will be declared the winner of the category. Finally, a majority of the judges’ votes make the winner’s decision.

The Conclusion

Legendary has a refreshing competition format and deserves all the praise it gets. It is a reality show with a cash prize as the winning reward. No doubt that the show has produced three seasons because it is a popular show. But appreciation cannot come without some criticism.

On the one hand, many people have appreciated the inclusivity of queer and trans people. On the other hand, some viewers did not find the idea truly beneficial to the Ballroom community. Some reviews have accused the show of not portraying the reality of the Ballroom community but instead a stylized version.

Nevertheless, it is an entertaining show. The important question is whether it will come back with Season 4. There is a high chance, but we cannot say what HBO decides. Whatever it is, we will get to know soon. So stay tuned and bookmark our page for further updates regarding the upcoming season.
